Our History

John Funiciello founds JF Real Estate after 7 successful years in the industry. A client of his at the time, Tony Fiorito, owner of Partnership Properties Inc, hires JF Real Estate right out of the gate.

John and Tony become business partners after selling lots in a single-family subdivision and purchasing a 65 unit apartment complex.

Still in the first 5 years of the company, JF Real Estate adds salespersons Ed Rogers and Marty McDermott to the team. Both agents are still active and play a critical role on the team today. Between the three agents, the total square footage of space represented by the company reaches 1 million for the first time in company history.

John and Tony partner with Andrew Larew of Larew Doyle & Associates in the purchase of the Syracuse Building at 224 Harrison Street which they still own, manage, and lease today.

John, Tony and Andrew purchase the Atrium Building at 2 Clinton Square and relocate the JF Real Estate office from the Clinton Exchange to the 3rd floor of this building. Denise Chase joins the company for administrative support.

JF Real Estate relocates to the first floor of the Atrium Building where they are today. Rachael Petrocci joins the company for additional administrative support.

The addition of Len Brown, Paul Myles, and then Ryan Goodfellow, all within 5 years of each other, put the company agent count at 5 and add strength and value to the leasing and sales division. With this addition, JF Real Estate adds apartment leasing to its skill set with the exclusive representation of 150 apartments in Franklin Square.

John and Andrew buy out Tonys partners in the White Memorial Building at 100 East Washington Street. They add this beautiful building in addition to a couple others within a few years of each other, the Bank of America Building at 100 North Salina Street and an office/warehouse building at 1401 Erie Boulevard.

After three years in the business, Matt Funiciello partnered with his father, John, and Don Gendron to add a residential division to JF Real Estate. Don Gendron came on board after 35 years’ experience in the industry, almost identical to John’s experience on the commercial side.

The company reaches 10 agents, its largest total count to date, with the addition of Cory LaDuke and Dmitry Bakal. The company currently exclusively represents approximately 3 million square feet of commercial space and over 175 apartments, all in the greater Syracuse area.
